Community Development - CSR

At Tradewinds Plantation Berhad, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is about conducting business in an ethical way and in the interest of the wider community, responding to emerging societal priorities and expectations. Our commitment towards CSR and its initiatives over the years have continued to expand, improve and refined.

In a more enlightened world which we live in today. CSR has been recognised as a new business paradign which requires corporations to adopt a broader view of its responsibilities, which includes not only to its shareholders but many others key components as well. Tradewinds Plantation Berhad has put many CSR strategies into place, which translates into tangible action-oriented programmes for the community within and at large. More than just responding to the expectations of society, we believe that CSR is simply the right thing to do.

Tradewinds Plantation Berhad is justifiably proud of its tradition of sharing success by contributing towards improving the quality of life in the community. As in previous years, we continue to support various charitable organisations and worthy causes throughout the country. It is gratifying that the spirit of caring and sharing has filtered down to our employees.

Volunteerism has always a Malaysian tradition and many of our staff have given generously their time, and even money, to participate in various ‘gotong-royong’ projects organised by the company. Perhaps the greatest contribution that one can make to society is the gift of life, whereby our people have responded very positively to blood donation campaigns. We have also organised family day gatherings at the estates with the surrounding communities as well as holding festival celebrations. Since 2004, the Miri regional office has organised a Majlis Berbuka Puasa for the orphans.
