Research and Development (“R&D”) has
contributed in no small measure to
Malaysia’s leadership position in the
global palm oi l industry. The
Government is encouraging greater
private sector contribution to the R&D
effort to complement the activities of
government agencies such as the
Malaysian Palm Oil Board (“MPOB”)
and Palm Oil Research Institute of
Malaysia (“PORIM”).
Our investment in R&D is part of the
Group’s strategy to be a key player in
the oil palm industry. The R&D Centre
that was set up some years ago has a
dedicated pool of researchers and
agronomists. The Group has also
established a Research and
Development Advisory Committee
whose major function is to identify R&D
areas that could be beneficial to the
Group’s operations, which include
seeking breakthroughs in agronomics,
pes t and di sease cont rol and
mechanisation of field operations. |
